Today I would like to introduce you a heavy metal band called Cththonic,

which I like very much and is well-known in Taiwan. With its unique music

heavy metal style, Taiwanese people compare them with another famous

heavy metal band called L’Arc~en~Ciel from Japan. Singer of the band

dressed them up dramatically like people from internal world, along with

their exaggerated make-ups on their faces. Songs they perform are related

to people’s everyday life in Taiwan, depicting people’s true feelings of

different issues ranging from Politics to social justice. The band is quite

different from other POP Rock music band in show business such as Bon

Jovi and Queen Beatles. As one of PoP cultures around the world, music

always could find ways to express people’s hearts and wanting and comfort

people’s mind and spirit. So special that they were invited to go on the stage

in Europe market and had their tour trip around. In other sense, this band

could show the world aspects of vivid and diversity Taiwan culture.

Architecture-Three-unified House

Three-unified house is a traditional building in Chinese.In general,it includes a main house in the north and two wing houses beside.And there has a rule for who should live which room .In the middle of main house is consecrated to their ancestors and two rooms beside is for the granpa and granmam or parent.The side of main house is for kitchen.Two wing houses are for sons and daughters or customers.

In the early,families have close relationship between everyone because they live togther everyday and need to learn respecting to the elders when their were young.But now,everyone only want to live by themself.They want to get free and then forget such feeling!I think this is why people are so cold and detached now!

Yanshuei Fengpao

Today we are talk about Yanshuei Fengpao(rocket hive).

Yanshuei is a town in Tainan county of Taiwan. People there set off thousands of '' rocket hives " every year in the fall. And what are rocket hives ? They're bottle rockets that are shot into the air by big machines. This event is supposed to commemorate a successful fight against a plague 200 years ago.

If you want to join the activite,you have to prepare helmet, trousers,cloth shoes, windproof coat and gloves.It'svery danger for people,but people still love to join the activite,because it's folkways and very grand.

The Special Architecture--Flagstone Room

In southern Taiwan, you can see some special traditional housing"flagstone rooms" in
aborigial villages, for example, the Rukai Tribe.

The flagstone room was built by local materials-flags. In ancient times, stone are used in corrugated personally drawn up the hill from, and even the roof is erected piece by piece.
It is the most interesting place. If the stone picked up in the process of taking a repair defective or irregular, stone houses are not likely to build up, so the process can be said to be difficult, to talk a lot of resources and energy to complete, can be said that a building on Great art, is also a great performance of strength and wisdom, which Rukai life to have a stone houses for the most honor and glory.

If you visit to southern Taiwan next time, do not forget to see flagstone rooms. And if the stone houses on the wall of hundred-pace snake, it means it is leader in the home. Try to find it!

Hand puppet theater

Hand puppet theater is a popular type of performing arts in Taiwan. The PILI’s hand puppet theater is my favorite one because it have vivid body language and delicate puppet. The PILI theater is being screened in every Friday.

I am always to look forward to it. My favorite role is Su Huan-jen (Healer in USA), he is a just leader, intelligent and benevolent. The PILI’s serial opera also screen in USA and Japan. I hope everyone likes this art, too!

Architecture –The Beauty of Confucius Temple

I have been living in Tainan for the past two years. Tainan is located in southern part of Taiwan, and also considered the fifth largest as well as the olderest city compares to the others. A place that is worth a while to visit is the Confucius Temple. The temple is been around for hundres of years, and it is been well maintain for its touristy purpose.

When you come to Taiwan, Tainan city is a must visit location because of its history. Moreover, you must visit the Confucius Temple when you visit Tainan because of the beauty of the temple.

The temple was built since the Qing Dynasty in 1897, the architecture layout and the building configuration was based on the traditional Confucian temple. When you visit the temple, you must focus on those parts that define its beauty. For instance, the Hong Gate and Pan Gong are located at the main entrance of the temple. The Hong gate is at the west gate and the Pan Gong is on the east side. They are the shape of an honorific arch with a swallow tail ridge and a middle that opens up as an arch with circular windows on the either side. Furthermore, on the south side of the temple, you can see a very high wall from the front door. This wall is called Wanren Gongqiang which is required at any Confucius temple. There was a literary origin of this wall which comes from The Analecs of Confucius, and the meaning of the origin was basically to emphasis the Confucius' well rounded knowledge and his high morals that is worthy for us to follow. He had thought us that there is no short cut for learning. For those who wish to make effort to learn must go through the Hingmen Gate or the Pangon Gate. The final architecture I would like to point out is the Lingxing Gate, and it is placed in the front also required in any Confucius temple. The one in Tainan has a roof and is like a tower with a gate underneath. In the middle part of the entrance, you can see a pair of very beautiful coiled dragon stone pillar to support the structures as the foundation. There are also all kinds of bird and flower patterns carved on the wall besides the dragon stone pillars. These carvings are usually in a simply form and style that brings out the gracefulness of the Confucius Temple.

I strongly recommend those who are interested to visit Tainan to check out the Confucius Temple. If you enjoy ancient history and their building structures, you can find yourself lost in time enjoying a moment of ancient dream.
