Chiayi City International Band Festival

Hello everyone, today I like to introduce my favorite festival in Taiwan - Chiayi City International Band Festival. This festival will start from the end of December to the New Year(This year is 12/24-2011.1/2). Nearly hundred bands will attend the festival, including both foreign and local teams. I like this festival because it is quite unique from other festivals in Taiwan, and I have been one of the performers in the 2000 Festival.

Chiayi City International Band Festival will be presented in diverse patterns, such as indoor and outdoor concerts, band music instruments exhibition, music lectures, art markets, band music marching, creativity marching, formation change, New Year party…etc. Some band will even let audience participate in the performance, like singing or dancing together. When the time comes, music will fill the City, and let everyone feels enjoyment.

The origin of Chiayi City International Band Festival can tracing back to 1981, following the prosperous economy of Taiwan and information freely flowing, many junior high schools or professional schools started to transfer their original traditional military music bands into the band that play various music and classical music. Because the great success of “ Music Lovers' Unified Performance of the Band Music””, the Chiayi City organized the first Band Music Festival in 1993. It has already held 18 times, and getting more diversification each time.
